It happens every first Monday in May, the Super Bowl of fashion: The Met Gala.
For those who aren’t aware, the Met Gala is the Costume Institute Gala event hosted by Vogue magazine where the biggest names in the fashion, entertainment, and sports industries get together with a theme each year that varies where celebrities go extremely over the top with their fashion senses.
2016’s theme: Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. No problem for today’s celebrities, right? Some celebs must have not understood what that meant or they simply did not care, while others slayed the red carpet per usual.
I have all the pictures you want to see at the bottom of the page, but let me point out a few names that killed it, and some that need to be checked for how they were looking at the red carpet.
Ciara, Jourdan Dunn, and Rita Ora all took the futuristic sleek silver look for their gowns. Ciara took on a custom designed H&M gown with short silver hair. Jourdan Dunn also rocked the bob with a Balmain dress and Eva Fenian jewelry to match. Rita Ora had the best train in my opinion. The all silver feather look appears delicate yet flashy.
Next up, Zoe Saldana also draped a train dressed up in Dolce & Gabbana, using a plethora of colors and feathers, totally futuristic which I like. Beyoncé spent her day off of the Formation World Tour to look spectacular, wearing a extremely fitted beaded latex piece by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy. Body on point Bey!
Other notable mentions: Jennifer Hudson (H&M), Demi Lovato (Moschino), and Will.i.am (Gucci).
Now, the sad part here is that some of my favorite fashionable celebs are on my bad list, but what in the world was Madonna thinking? That whole thing she has on is a burning hot ass mess. Selena Gomez looks like something out of the 1930’s in a hideous Louis Vuitton gown. Sarah Jessica Parker is on this list because I expected way more from her as she usually shows up to the event each year in something over-the-top. She was my most anticipated look before the red carpet and she looks like she did not even care to dress up for the event in a plain Monse outfit. Completely disappointed in her. Last but not last I must go in on Gaga. Lady Gaga, you have been doing so good lately in your fashion sense especially during her time on American Horror Story, and she started out well… I love the top, the design is so intricate … but where’s the bottom? I’m just not feeling it Also, that wig looks a mess. Sorry, I ain’t sorry!
